Fertility care in Victoria and Brentwood Bay, B.C.
From a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) perspective, growing a baby is like growing a garden - we must nourish the soil before planting and nurturing the seed. Bodies require adequate nourishment and balance to flourish. TCM intends to establish a healthy, nourished, balanced bodily environment conducive to healthy conception.
TCM uses a whole-woman approach to treat the individual holistically, considering all aspects of her health. Whether due to unexplained infertility, PCOS, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, menstrual cycle irregularities, or other gynecological imbalances, TCM offers the wonderful ability to bring balance to the body, mind, and spirit.
TCM includes acupuncture, herbal medicine, and diet and lifestyle adjustments. TCM strongly influences the endocrine and reproductive systems, addressing many health concerns that can hinder fertility.
Whether the intention is to approach fertility naturally or alongside assisted reproductive technology, research studies (see links below) show that TCM can greatly increase the chances of successful conception and subsequent pregnancy and delivery.
TCM excels at:
Balancing hormones and the endocrine system
Decreasing the side effects of western medicines
Improving ovarian function & egg quality & quantity
Lowering the chances of miscarriage
Optimizing the uterine environment
Reducing stress and anxiety by regulating the nervous system
Stimulating blood flow to the uterus & reproductive organs, thereby increasing the chances of conception
Regulating immunity
Thickening the uterine lining to promote implantation
Even without fertility challenges, many women come for pre-conception wellness to nourish themselves and create an optimal environment to grow a baby. TCM works to balance the delicate interplay of the body that occurs throughout each menstrual cycle, helping a woman to produce healthy eggs capable of fertilization and preparing her uterus to be an optimal nest for a baby to flourish.
Dietary adjustments, acupuncture, herbs, lifestyle, supplements, and emotional support, as necessary, are included as part of a holistic care plan catered to individual needs and whichever imbalances are present in the system. Treatments are adjusted as symptoms are resolved.
